 Langtang Gosainkunda trek is self famous and popular not only amongst foreigners but also internal tourist of Nepal. Gosaikunda Lake is supposed to possess mystical, holy and spiritually enlightening waters, thus making the Langtang Gosaikunda trek, popular not only among foreigners, but also the internal tourists of Nepal. Around August and September, this sacred lake attracts tourists from all around. The trail is significant, not only because of the presence of the lake, but also occasional views of Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, Ganchenpo mountains, passage through the Langtang River and observations of the style of living of the inhabitants of the Langtang region. Gosaikunda is formed by the melt of glaciers and is located at a high plateau along with other lakes like the Saraswatikunda and Bhairabkunda around it.

The trek commences with a drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi accompanied by the alluring views of the Trishuli River, glimpses of Ganesh Himal and the Langtang National Park. A short trek from Syabrubesi brings the Lama Hotel and a further descend brings Rimche. En-route trekkers can view the Bhote Koshi River and also some red pandas, monkeys and bears present in the Langtang National Park.

 An occasional view of the Lang tang Lirung Mountain through the Ghore Tabela brings the Langtang village which is followed by a steep climb to the Kyangjin village. Kyangjin village is home to the soothing and mesmerizing views of the pristine snow covered peaks like the Langtang Lirung, Ganjala peak, Tserko Ri, Langsisa Ri and many others. Kyangjin Gompa, a Buddhist heritage site and the Kyangjin Ri, the viewpoint are the village’s other salient features.

Upon returning back to the Lama Hotel, further trek can be carried out to the beautiful Thulo Syabru which provides the views of the Ganesh and Langtang Himal. Further trek through Dursagang, Sing Gompa and Lauribinayak brings the holy Gosaikunda Lake via a rugged trail with views of Himal Chuli, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung and other Tibetan peaks. Gosaikunda is adorned all around by a dozen more spell bounding lakes. Retracing the same path back to Kathmandu ends the trek.

Detail Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu

Arrival in Kathmandu pick-up at the International airport and take your hotel and free day.

Day 2

. Kathmandu City sightseeing, Swayambunath, Bauddhanath, Kathmandu Darbarsquare, Pashupatinath.

Day 3

Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi (1400m.) which takes about 9/10 hours.

Breakfast at Hotel, You will transfer by reserve vehicle or bus drive to your starting point at the foot of the Langtang Valley.  It will take about 8 to 9 hrs drive from Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel or guest house. (Corrected)

Day 4

Syabru Besi (1400m) – Lama Hotel (2450m) 4-5 hours.

Having something at lodge or guest house we will start our next trekking destination is Lama Hotel. We will be walk along the way to Bhotekosi River which is flowing down to Tibet only few kilometers away. We will then gradually climb up through the sub- tropical forests from Thulo sybru. We can enjoy different kinds of teeming with bird life as well as other. During the trails, we might be seeing the red panda & Himalayan Black bears. There are few lodges & tea shop around these places. Overnight at lodge or guest house. (Edited)

Day 5

Lama Hotel (2450m.) – Langtang village (3670m.) 5 hours, 1120m.

Today is our fifth day in the trekking trail to Lama Hotel. We are exploring much more than previous day as you continue climbing you get occasional glimpses of Lang tang Lirung (7245m.) between the trees. At Ghore Tabela (3000m) the trail emerges from the forest. Once there was a Tibetan migration project here, there is a monastery which you can visit shortly before arriving at the village of Langtang, the headquarters of the Langtang National Park. The houses of Langtang and its neighboring villages are of the flat-roofed Tibetan style, surrounded by stone walls enclosing fields where buckwheat, potatoes, wheat, turnips and barley are planted. Day 6

Langtang vill`age (3670m.) Kyangjin Gompa (3900m.) 2 2 hours.

The trail climb regularly from beginning to end small villages and yak pastures as the valley opens out further and the views become wider. After crossing several small streams and moraines, the trail reaches the settlement at Kyangjin. There is a small monastery & cheese factory here. You should arrive at Kyangjin by lunch time allowing time to acclimatize and explore the area. It is a dramatic setting with snowy peaks surrounding you in all directions. You can enjoy panoramic views of Kyangjin Ri (4750m.), Tsergo Ri (5000m.), Ganja la (5160m.), Langshisa- Ri (6427m.), Dorje Lhakpa (6430m.), Naya Kang (5844m.), Yala peak (5500m.) and so on. Day 7

Exploration day in Kyangjin.

It is a day to travel around the area. You can visit the monastery and the cheese factory, walk up morning to see the stunning ice faces and sinking glaciers of Langtang Lirung or ascend Kyangjin Ri [4350m], directly behind the village, for a magnificent panorama of the Langtang peaks.(corrected)

Day 8

Kyangjin Gompa (3900m.)- Lama Hotel (2450m.) 5 hours.

From Kyangjin you retrace your steps, following the Langtang Khola to Langtang village and on to Ghore Tabela. After lunch you continue the steep Descend to Lama Hotel.

Day 9

Lama Hotel (2450m.) – Thulo Syabru (2350m.) 5 hours.

Breakfast at Lodge & guest house then we will towards to Thulo Syabru. An undulating path brings you to this fascinating village where each house is set above its neighbor, in a long line up to the very crest of the ridge. It’s a great place to wander about, observing the Tamang way of life, admiring the beautifully carved wooden windows or simply relaxing in the sun.

Day 10

Thulo Syabru (2350m.) Sing Gompa (3330m) 5 hours.

Breakfast at lodge or hotel then we will towards to Sing Gompa it is a steep climb through forests of oak, fir and rhododendron to the top of a ridge. From here it is only a short Descend to Sing Gompa. There is a Buddhist monastery and a small cheese factory here.

Day 11

Sing Gompa (3330m) Gosainkund (4320m) 4 – 5 hours.

From Sing Gompa you climb a ridge to the main Gosainkund trail. There are good views across Langtang valley to Langton Lirung. To the west there are spectacular views of the Ganesh Himal and Manaslu.  The trail descends from the ridge to the first of three lakes, Saraswati Kund. The second lake in the chain is named Bhairab Kund, and the third, Gosainkund. This lake is particularly sacred and a place of pilgrimage in the summer. According to legend, this lake was created by Shiva when he pierced a glacier with his trident to obtain water, quenching his thirst after taking some poison.
